A Step Closer...

Yesterday I finally gave in to the temptation of getting an Apple product. I got myself a iPod touch! Silly as it sounds as this is no longer the talk of town since its iPhone cousin hit my country with all telco selling it. Reason of getting iPod vs iPhone:
  1. iPhone comes with a camera that really sucks. Although it improves from 2MP to 3.2MP, it is really a downgrade on my end from my current 8.1MP
  2. I still believe that the existing 3GS does not warrant me switching my belief that iPhone can make it as a phone.

Nonetheless, the apps really got me and I gave in on Saturday. I'm sure I would not regret on my decision to get it. The only possibility of me 'abandoning' this new gadget would be getting the 4th generation of iPhone that promises better camera and battery life in June.

So much for my new toy. I decided to go for my blood test today. So I went to NUH in the morning, feeling nervous. To be honest, I'm not those kinda person who likes to go for health checks, dentist, etc. Never had good experience for these. But... I still dragged myself there and to my surprise, the clinics are closed on Saturday! OMG... doesn't anyone fall ill on weekends? I just can't help but to feel even health care operates like a business... what has this world turned into???

Preparation for Grenoble Trip

This marks the end of the two weeks break... aargh!!
Not really in the mood to work this week. But nonetheless have to drag myself back to office. I realize I am not the only person who is feeling this way. I kinda feel worse because I'll be flying off this weekend to Grenoble for my team face-to-face meeting. Not feeling too excited this time because Ying Heng can't go due to the bad weather over that part of the globe. I last heard there is a 15-20 cm of snow and expected to be haivng a -5 degrees celsius next week. I'm basically moving from desert to a freezer. Crossing my fingers =(

Yay... I have selected these few that I like.

This shall be the one for the canvas.

We managed to snap this while Ying Heng is entertaining himself with the bells.

Ying Heng liked this fountain a lot. He was wet through after that.

A summary of my life so far....

If you are reading this post, I must say you are the greatest follower on my blog. It has been 3.. 4... probably 5 weeks or more since I have last posted anything. So I must say a big THANK YOU to you.
It has been a busy period for me both at work and personal life. So many things happened! People came into my life... more work... pay freeze.. blah blah blah. Of course, this is a double edged sword. Some incidents can make you happy and unhappy at the same time. I learnt to be understanding and less selfish. I learnt that others could suffer as a result of my selfish act.
Pay freeze is something that has taken me by surprise. No prior 'hints'! Darn... there goes my dream watch, which I planned to get with my increment. I can't imagine having pay freeze for 2 consecutive years!
In any case, life still goes on. Ying Heng is starting to walk. Looking at him wobbling brings smile to my face. I think his legs are strong enough.. he just lacks a bit of confidence. This is fine... i'll let him set his pace in learning as long as he is happy. Ying Heng is awake... signing off now.

Yes and No

My first blog since moving from wordpress.com.

Ying Heng is learning new things everyday. The recent skill that he has acquired is to nod his head and shake his head to tell if he wants or does not want something.

It's kind of funny to see how he nods his head so vigorously. It's like he is moving his body back and forth to accomplish that action. Cannot imagine ah? Think about the movement when you are sitting on a rocking chair.

I found that babies in general has difficulty shaking their heads as compared to nodding. Dunno why also... And the action is not so clear-cut leh, looks like he is searching something on the floor rather than shaking his head lor...

Added a clip that I took with my phone. Sorry that it is not upright as I'm still not used to the phone. :P

I'm looking forward to see what is the next thing he picks up.

Interesting article: How can I help my toddler learn to talk?

I came across this article while browsing the BabyCenter forum.

First of all, you need to talk as much as you can directly to your baby. The best is to make these conversations just between the two of you. This will reduce the possibility of distractions and your baby will get the best out of these sessions. Look at him while you talk. Let him see your face and your gestures.

Show your baby what you mean, by matching what you do to what you say. For example, "Take off your shirt", you say, taking the shirt off over his/her head.

You have to show enthusiasm, emotion and emphasis. These are qualities that will catch his/her attention and encourage him to try to comprehend what you are saying.
Give the above a try... I will and hope you find this useful too.... ;p
